Approved log lighters, where properly installed, may be used for the lighting of logs only.
GAS LOGS:
Approved gas logs may be installed only in solid fuel burning fireplaces provided the following conditions are met:
1. The gas log is installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
2. The minimum chimney or vent passageway shall not be less than 1 square inch per 2,000 Btu/hr input
3. Gas logs when equipped with a pilot shall have a safety shut-off valve
4. An insert or stove shall be listed for use with a gas log
